Kitty calls herself a Mount Baldy "old original" and, indeed, she's been skiing the longest of any of the hill's members. Her love of the sport is combined with her pleasure in being active in the winter with her friends, children, grandchildren and other family members.
In 1946, when Kitty was 16 years old, she didn't let not having a car prevent her from skiing and took the City bus from High Street to Mount Baldy. She met her future husband Raymond Kukko, a competitive skier, and together they had five children. Aside from taking a few half seasons off to have kids, Kitty skied recreationaly and also raced in the Ladies Auxilary and the Senior Circuit. Kitty celebrated her 80th birthday on August 5, 2010 and is looking forward to another ski season at the hill where she's skied for 64 years.
